Mobileguide works on mobiles and hand-held devices from most manufacturers such as Apple, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, LG, Samsung, HTC and RIM (Blackberry). Given the vast amounts of devices, and differences, the operating instructions vary significantly between devices.
Android
Mobileguide will be available for Android devices this summer!
Apple
Mobileguide is available on the Apple App Store for the iPhone & iPod Touch. An iPad version will be available this summer. Link to the App Store
BlackBerry (RIM)
The Mobileguide is available for most Blackberry devices. The application will either be placed under “Downloads” or simply on the main menu depending on the device model.
Note that Q and P on the Blackberry keyboard are used to press the left and right soft buttons
Windows Mobile
On Windows Mobile devices the Mobileguide is installed into a special application, Intent Java, that runs Java applications. Most Windows Mobile devices have this application pre-installed on the device. If not, Intent Java can be downloaded here. Mobileguide supports most Windows Mobile devices independent of the manufacturer.
Mobileguide is accesed via the "Java Midlet Manager" on Windows Mobile devices
Nokia
Supported by almost all Nokia devices manufactured after 2004, the Mobileguide is usually downloaded directly into the “Application” folder. For Nokia E-line and N-line models the Mobileguide is placed into the “Downloads” folder or “Downloads-My Own”.
Samsung
Mobileguide runs on the majority of Samsung devices. Performance and user experience can vary very much between different Samsung models. A common location of the Mobileguide application is within the “Applications->Java” folder.
Some Samsung devices require you to give special permission to enable internet access within the Mobileguide. For some Samsung devices this is done by selecting “Options->Permission” in the mobiles file system with the Mobileguide application selected.
Sony Ericsson
Like Nokia, almost all SE phones manufactured in the last five years are supported. Note that the Mobileguide application is often saved into the “Games” folder of your device.
Other
Mobileguide runs on over a thousand different device models and several types are not listed above but are still supported, e.g. LG, Motorola… The only secure way to find out if your device is supported is simply to try to download the Mobileguide via get.mobileguide.is. Give it a try, the application is for free!
